Governance for Human Resources in Health

  • Description

According to the World Health Report 2006, 57 countries face a critical shortage of health workers. This affects the quality of care provided to populations, and progress towards achieving the Millenium Development Goals. In response to the critical workforce shortages, many institutes at national and international level have made efforts to address the shortage and performance of health workers. Among these actors are Cordaid and its partners, that identified the shortage of Human Resources for Health (HRH), especially in rural and underserved areas, as one core problem that impedes the delivery of quality health services to the population they work with.
