Campus Health Clinic Scorecard — Wildlife Edition

Aug 29, 2023
  • Description

To understand the current state of sexual and reproductive health access on college campuses, the Center for Biological Diversity evaluated the sexual and reproductive health services of schools in the Power Five conferences who use wildlife as their mascots. Many of the schools in this scorecard have bears and large cats as their mascots, though birds, reptiles and insects are also represented. All of these species suffer from habitat loss from population pressure such as road fragmentation and urban sprawl — and schools should do what they can to protect their mascots in the wild.

The 22 colleges and universities represented in this scorecard serve as a starting point for examining the state of health, sex education, gender empowerment and reproductive services on college campuses across the country.
