Southwest PA Says NO MORE represents a growing community of organizations and individuals who are working to end domestic and sexual violence in a 10-countyregion of southwestern Pennsylvania. This report highlights key accomplishments of the last year. This important work could not happen without the dedication of those who stepped up and are taking action to end violence. Know you are making a difference.GOALS1. Build community leadership, joining individuals and organizations across all sectors2. Portrayal and Perception: Two Audits of News Media Reporting on African American Men and Boys

The Heinz Endowments' African American Men and Boys Task Force conducted an audit of media reporting on black men and boys in Pittsburgh. Based on content analysis of newspapers and evening newscasts, in addition to a survey and video interviews, the findings highlight a media scene that underrepresents African-Americans males, especially in terms of their positive achievements.

Academic success among African Americans is correlated with education that incorporates racial identity and socialization and a focus on resiliency and culturally relevant concepts. The arts are an ideal venue for such educational programs.
