Advancing Evaluation Practices in Philanthropy

In recent years, the philanthropic sector has neared consensus on the need to improve measurement and evaluation of its work. Although the philanthropies they lead use different methods, members of the Aspen Philanthropy Group (APG) have agreed that basic principles and practices can inform efforts to monitor performance, track progress, and assess the impact of foundation strategies, initiatives, and grants. They hope to build a culture of learning in the process.

A Spotlight on San Diego's Third Sector

In conjunction with the University of San Francisco's Institute for Nonprofit Organization Management, the Center produced a report focused on the contributions of the San Diego nonprofit sector to the local economy. This report's intent is to create an understanding of the nonprofit sector, measure its capacity and economic contributions, and chart its future. This project was presented November 13, 2006.

Silicon Valley's Changing Nonprofit Sector

Measures the growth of nonprofits and foundations in Silicon Valley between 1994 and 2003 to provide an overview of the region's nonprofit sector in relation to business and industry, and compares it to the Bay Area and the entire state of California.
